FHL Gazette: Pre-season Survey: Vikings

Created by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-12 12:39:01 (updated by NorwegianOiler on 2015-11-04 01:52:00)

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there? The Vikings were victorious, chiefly because of superior forwards and goalies. The defense was certainly up to par, but no more. Glory onto Odin.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals? I'd ask the Heatwave, but they were so far behind I couldn't be bothered to stop waiting to hear what Ktown had to say. The Tigers made a jump up the table from their dismal 2013-14 campaign, but they remain undetectably off the radar of threats to the Vikings.

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
We added Timo Meier (thankfully!) and Brock Boeser at the draft, while also acquiring Joonas Donskoi, and Andreas Athanasiou to the more immediate prospect pool via free agency. The Vikings remain relatively unchanged, though raises have been given to players like Holtby and Gallagher. *Edit: The Vikings also moved out much beloved 2-way winger Bradley Marchand (and pieces) for defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. Also, a major move motivated by the cap sent out long-time Vikings like Marian Hossa, David Perron, and oft scratched Marc-Edouard Vlasic for Roman Josi and future pieces. It represents a clear loss in fhl points, but allowed for the inclusion of benched Vikings and perhaps a better overall output in the long run. In any case, sitting on unused players is not what wins championships. Though some offense has been sacrificed, the Vikings' goaltending and defense look better than it ever has. Whether it is enough will likely be up to injuries, since we have less depth than before due to the ever-increasing payroll of young players that perform well.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?First place in the regular season. First place in the playoffs. Nothing less. It is also likely to be the last season where the Vikings can expect to be truly competitive with the current roster, as a number of key members are up for significant raises during the summer of 2016 - including, but not limited to, Erik Johnson, Sami Vatanen, David Savard, Jiri Sekac, Dmitrij Jaskin, Zemgus Girgenssons, and possibly Kevin Hayes.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Zach Parise - Patrice Bergeron - Blake Wheeler
Nikolaj Ehlers - Matt Duchene - Brendan Gallagher
Dimitrij Jaskin - Kevin Hayes - Beau Bennett
Matt Martin - Zemgus Girgenssons - Jean-Gabriel Pageau

Victor Hedman - Erik Johnson
Roman Josi - Kevin Shattenkirk
Sami Vatanen - David Savard

Braden Holtby
Cory Schneider

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
The Vikings, lacking the absolute top end stars of the league, must compete by committee - but failed campaigns from player such as Parise, Hossa, Wheeler, Hedman, Johnson, and the goalies will obviously hurt. To win, we simply require the players to play at their career averages or better.

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
I think it's time for Jaskin to break through with a 20 goal season, so too with Sekac (hopefully). If Ehlers gets some PP time with Wheeler and Ladd, he could break 40 points in the NHL, which would be nice. Donskoi is a dark horse to break 15+15, but we'll see how much time he gets with the Sharks top end guys. Talented player at least.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?) The Vikings need to plan for the future, and have an abundance of guaranteed FHL producers on decent salaries. The opportunity is there to move some "good maybes" and get a "good certainty" in return.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
The Vikings are built to compete with good depth at forward, solid top four in defense, and a couple of elite netminders. The most concerning weakness is the amount of salary which will accumulate as these players grow into their second and third deals. The prospect pool on defense is shallow and thus needs to be adressed.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
The Vikings, as well as the Bulldogs, Gladiators, Chiefs, and Mustangs. In that order. Just outside will be teams like the Heatwave, Tigers, Militia, and Bombers.

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
I figure the Vikings are favorites, but I wouldn't put it past the Bulldogs, or Gladiators to take the title depending on injuries and overperformances by young players. I don't really think it is likely that the Vikings will take both the regular season- and playoff title in the end.

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Without significant additions in net, the Lakers and Dragons are likely in for tough seasons, but with proactive GM'ing they could still find their way into the playoffs come that time of the season.

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?Thank you for your continued dedication to our league.

Also, finish your surveys, knuckle draggers! Love, your Viking overlord.

FHL Gazette: Pre-season Survey: Bulldogs and Militia

Created by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-05 14:30:17

GR8ONE of the BULLDOGS

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
I finished third overall last season. Was a pretty good season in that improved goaltending and especially my re-vamped D-corps carried me. However that seemed to be at the expense of my previously elite forwards whom dropped all the way down from second best in the FHL the year before to ninth place last year.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
I guess pretty good, I knew going in that Norbotsgaard was going to be tough and I knew the Militia were going to strong as well so no surprise they were above me. Was happy to finish above the Heatwave though and look forward to seeing them fall even further! :P:

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
Not much really. Tough to do anything really aside from draft, which was kind of disappointing to be honest. The GM's in this league are so savvy and value our own players too much sometimes so it's difficult to make meaningful trades. It's almost impossible to fleece Chucker anymore since he has an "advisor". <3 you upChuck!

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
I don't think I'm going to Challenge for the cup this year,so would be satisfied with a top 5 finish.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Forsberg Marleau Simmonds
Semin Backes Wilson
Cammalleri Couturier Grabner
Kruger Coyle Fast

Byf Faulk
Johnson Yandle
Tanev Murray

Halak
Mason

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
Backes, Byf, Faulk, Halak.

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
Not really surprise, but I was hoping for a potential big season from Nylander as I think he has it in him, but I think the Leafs are going to be smart and start him with the Marlies. Good long term but not for me this season. I'm also loving the Semin buyout and if he could have a good year that could be HUGE for the K9's.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
Nothing specific really, as most of you know, I'm always open to negotiation, even if nothing comes of it. Make an offer!

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
I think my D is a strength, I don't have elite goaltending but see it as a strength. I'm not bullish on my forwards, I love Marleau and Backes' consistency, but after that I have a lot of question marks. Can Forsberg repeat? Can Coyle and Couturier finally find more offense? Can Grabner find his touch again? Can Wilson live up to his new contract? Can Nylander, Grigo and to a lesser extent Boucher and Trocheck emerge as offensive threats in the NHL? Semin? If some or all of those things happen my team could explode, or it could be a very long season.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
I'll go with the same 5 as last year.

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
I think Norbotsgaard(spits) and the Militia are the teams to beat again.

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Haven't really thought about it. I don't think teams "tanked" last year but I certainly don't think some of the bottom dwellers were hugely motivated to do well last season. I think with McDavid out of the way we might see some more movement from down there.

Please note, I don't say that in a negative or judgemental way, nor do I blame them. Just an observation.

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?
I hope you all suck goat balls this year. Even Racki, whom we all know loves goat balls. With love of course.

JFRIZZIO of the MILITIA

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
We finished second overall in the season. And we had a poor showing in our first year in the FHL Playoffs. We had some promising young players break out last year at the beginning, but slowed down in the end. We could have had a stronger season if the defence had performed better overall.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
Well of coarse, the Vikings won the NoRack Cup. So naturally they did better. However not for long! We did beat out our biggest rivals the Serpents. And after our lose to the Gladiators in the playoffs, we feel there could be a new rivalry brewing.

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
We made the biggest trade in our franchise's history. We traded away Malkin, Letang and Bernier. Malkin had a few great seasons for us. We also traded away Letang, who had a rough go with the Militia. Bernier was a steady net minder for us, but we felt it was time to move on. We wish them luck with their new team! We brought back Tuuka Rask, one of the leagues top goaltenders reasonably priced Brandon Dubinsky and top prospect Sam Morin.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
Goal is and always will be to win the prestigious NoRack Cup! That is the only successful campaign.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Nash - Toews - Tarasenko
Tatar - Johansen - Voracek
Jenner - Dubinsky - Little
Wennberg - Kesler - Niederrieter

Scandella - Karlsson
Zadorov - Polak
Gormley - Wiercioch

Rask
Hiller

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
Nash, Tarasenko, Voracek, Johansen, Karlsson and Rask

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
Up front, Dano could pick up where he left off if he gets called up. I'm expecting a big healthy year from Jenner. On the back end, I'm banking on someone having a break out year. Zadorov and Gormley could thrive in their new environments.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
The trade needs are to shed some salary. The most notable players would be Toews and Kesler. I'm willing to listen to offers on them, but won't buckle at any offer. Looking for youth, decent salaries and defencemen.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Our forward core, even without Malkin, we feel rivals the best of them. Finally we can call goaltending a strength with the addition of Rask. However right now, save Karlsson, our D is very weak. But they are two breakout players away from being considered good.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
Vikings, Heatwave, Militia, Bulldogs, Chiefs. In no particular order.

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
Our favourite to win it all, does not start with a 'V.' This is all!

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Whoever is desperate enough for Auston Matthews. Don't mind if I do!

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?[/quote]
Just want to say good luck to everyone! And thanks to the powers that be for their awesome job on the league! Also, more cap room would be nice! Kidding, but not really!

FHL Gazette: Pre-season Survey: Gladiators and Serpents

Created by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-04 00:36:27

QUINSTONE of the GLADIATORS

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
I think I finished in 11or 12th but made a late run and finished 4th in the playoffs.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
Not quite sure who my rivals are at this point so good I guess? Haha

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
I haven't changed anything about my team since the end of the season which is likely a good thing as injuries were a reason for a bad first half of the year last season.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
I would say be in the top 5 in the season and be a threat to win the cup!

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Gaudreau- Zibanejad- Perry
Eriksson- Nielsen- Killorn
Yakupov- Lowry- Vanek
Miller- Colborne- Lazar

Pieteangelo- Seidenberg
Gelinas- Gudas
Nesterov- Borowiecki

Varlamov
Luongo

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
My goaltending tandem, Perry and pietrangelo.

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
I think JT Miller and Tom Wilson are due to start breaking out offensively. But I mainly just see more incremental improvements in my younger players this year.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
I would like to potentially improve my defense further. I would likely part with a veteran over a younger player.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
My biggest strength would be goaltending provided they both stay healthy, last year this was an issue. As far as weaknesses go I would definately say it's my defence. Hopefully some younger players can make big strides this year.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
Gladiators, heatwave, Vikings, militia and Bulldogs

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
Probably Heatwave but it's always close at the top and a bad week in playoffs can screw it all up.

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Spartans and Thunder. Not sure why everyone is choosing the Dragons here, any team that adds Eichel, Crosby and Giordano should see massive improvements. I expect them to be around the middle pack.

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?

MG10 of the SERPENTS

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
The Serpents placed 13th in 2014-2015, mostly because of lack of forward scoring depth. The goaltending and defense kept us afloat, without which we would have finished out of the playoff picture.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
I like to think we have a rivalry with the Heatwave due to our back-to-back first round bouts, but we got slayed both times. So in relation to them, we were a lot worse.

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
As usual, not much has changed with the Serpents. We hope some of our recent draft picks and minor-league signings will end up being sleepers.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
The goal last season was to finish in the top-10 and win a playoff round. We failed to accomplish those objectives. The goals for this season remain the same - A top-10 standing and win a playoff round.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Mikkel Boedker - Nicklas Backstrom - Marian Gaborik
Jakob Silfverberg - Tomas Plekanec - Kyle Okposo
Andre Burakovsky - Brandon Sutter - Michael Frolik
Patrick Berglund - Jacob Josefson - Nick Shore

Duncan Keith - Ryan McDonagh
Nick Leddy - Kris Russell
Morgan Rielly - Carl Gunnarsson

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
Similarly to last year, I expect Carey Price to shoulder most of the load this season. Provided he plays a healthy season, Nick Backstrom should have another strong season. I am also hoping for one more great goal-scoring season from Marian Gaborik. A return to his natural position (RW!) should help in that regard. I'm expecting more from Mikkel Boedker and Jakob Silfverberg.

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
The departure and Jarret Stoll and Mike Richards from the LA Kings leaves a great opportunity another to step in and prove his worth, and Calder Cup champion Nick Shore could be that player.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
Tomas Plekanec is about to start his final season of his current 5-year, $5 million contract with the Canadiens and I am unwilling to bring him back for more than $5 million next season. So, I might be looking to move him soon.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths are defense and goaltending; weakness is offensive scoring depth.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
I expect the top 5 to be some assortment of Vikings, Chiefs, Heatwave, Bombers, and Tigers.

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
I think the Chiefs win the Cup this year.

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Devils, Burninators, Arcadians, Thunder and Stingers.

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?
Best of luck everyone.

FHL Gazette: A look-back before the road ahead

Created by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-03 15:00:50 (updated by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-04 07:02:45)

Before last season, every GM was asked to submit a survey - as is in progress currently - in which one question was: "Who do you think the top 5 in the 2014-15 season will be"? Here is a quick reminder and summary of how that went...

To beat my own drum, the top five were: The Vikings, Militia, Bulldogs, Chiefs, and Rhinos. Rounding off the top ten were the Heatwave, Bombers, Rattleheads, Tigers, and Mustangs.

Ktown (Heatwave) answered: "The Heatwave. I won’t speculate further". Close, but yet so far away. Ktown either underestimated the rest or overestimated his own crew. 0/5.

Quinstone (Gladiators) answered: "Tough one. In no particular order: Gladiators, Vikings, Heatwave, Chiefs, Megasus." Thus, Quinstone managed a sub-par 2/5.

Chucker (Stingers) answered: (He is nearly as verbose as me) "Out top five teams to beat (other than ourselves) are The Vikings. Champions are champions. The Heatwave as they look to rebound and capture another NoRack cup. The Mustangs look poised to have another stellar season. The Bulldogs have always been in the mix. We expect this year to be no different. We also like the work that the Gladiators did and look for them to be competitive once again at the top end of the league." Chucker nailed the Vikings and included another perennially solid outfit, the Bulldogs. The previous year's top fliers, the Gladiators and Mustangs, were nowhere in the top 5. Verdict: 2/5.

Rhbdken (Lugers, as they were) answered: "Gladiators, Heatwave, Rhinos, Bombers and Vikings" The former FHL manager got 2/5 and had two other top 10 teams in the mix. Only the Gladiators fell completely off the map in 2014-15.

Metal&Oil (Rhinos) answered: "Vikings, Glades, Rhinos, Heatwave, Bombers". Another one betrayed by the allure of the previous season's success, picking the Gladiators. End result: 2/5, but two more in the top 10.

Samson (Thunder) answered: "The usual". Such lack of precision is never rewarded. Nostrudamus' style neboulous statement. 0/5.

Jfrizzio (Militia) answered: "Vikings, Heatwave, Gladiators, Bulldogs, Rebels" Another 2/5, but he did call "Vikings repeat" for the winner, which turned out great for everyone...

Racki (Bombers - appropriately) answered: "This would be easier if it was "top seven". Vikings, Bombers, Bulldogs, Gladiators, Mustangs. It'll be a dogfight with the Heatwave and Bulldogs close by too." So our founding father called 2/5, while cunningly predicting six different teams to make his "top seven" list. Five of his six made the top ten though.

Gr8one (Bulldogs) answered: "Viqueens, Gladianus', Poontangs, Milshitia, and the mighty Bulldogs!(not necessarily in that order) Honourable mentions to the Bummers and the Freakwave." Another one who overestimated what the Mustangs and Gladiators did the year before, yet understood the looming potential of the Milshitia. 3/5 for the Bool daggs. Negative one thousand points for guessing himself as the winner and not following up.

Dawgtoy (Mustangs) answered: "I'd say the Glads, Vikes, Dogs, Heat and Rhinos fight it out for the top 5." Another 3/5 crystal ball - and (wisely?) did not have himself in there.

Steve-o (Raiders) answered: "Heatwave, Vikings, Raiders, Rhinos and Rebels". A bit of optimism had Steve-o name his own team as belonging to the top five - and "ideally" named his own team winner of it all. Fell a bit short. Here too, 2/5.

Norwegianoiler (Vikings) answered: "The Heatwave refuse to cool off and is likely to be top three at the very least. The Tigers, Mustangs, and Bombers have started well enough, but depending on injuries I see teams like the Rhinos, Militia, and Bulldogs pushing into the top five. These teams have different challenges as I see it. A few lack enough depth to make the final push, whereas others simply lack cap space to ice all their top players. Personally, I'd like to see the Militia take the next step, but they might need to disperse some wealth to maximise their output." (See, this is why Chucker is only runner up in the verbosity category). Can hardly judge this blurb, but named the Milita as being a serious contender. Tigers, Mustangs, Bombers all top 10, but not in the top five. Rhinos, Bulldogs, Milita in the top 5. Heatwave didn't. Don't understand why the Vikings weren't mentioned, but 3/5 it is. (Bonus for calling the Vikings to beat the Heatwave in the playoffs)

Choudu (Megasus) answered: "Bombers, Heatwave, Vikings, Rhinos, Megasus" Not terrible, but naming yourself is likely not going to win prediction points. 2/5.

Saevel (Tigers) answered: "The usual suspects, Vikings, Mustangs and Heatwave, will probably be there. I'll add myself, since that's my goal, after all. For the last spot, I'm gonna say Bulldogs." A modestly successful prediction, yet as short as most, 2/5.

MG10 (Serpents) answered: "Top 5 will go Mustangs, Vikings, Heatwave, Militia, Tigers." Got the Militia right as many did not, but stands in line with the rest who figured the Heatwave were safer in the top five than they turned out to be. Mustangs fell further than most expected. 2/5.

Crott (Rattleheads) answered: "Vikings, Heatwave, Mustangs, Serpents, Bombers" One of few who saw the potential in the Serpents. They were up there for a while, but couldn't sustain a top five position. That means Crott ends with 1/5, though he got the most important one. /endrileup

Negative one bazillion fhl points to the gutter scum who failed to report in with their surveys. A thousand plagues on all your houses.

FHL Gazette: Pre-season Survey: Heatwave and Lakers

Created by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-03 00:14:47

KTOWN of the HEATWAVE

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
The Heatwave posted their worst ever finish in the FHL, finishing outside of the Top 5, landing in 6th.

The only thing that saved our season was a great run through the playoffs, ultimately falling one missed practice short of the championship…

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
Regular season, as MO is going to rub in from here to eternity, the Heatwave finished 1 spot behind the Rhinos… Ugh. We also finished hell and gone back of the Vikings. However, come the playoffs, I’m not exactly sure what happened to the Rhinos. I believe the Heatwave left them crying by the exit ramp.

The Vikings proved to be the toughest test of the playoffs, and though the Heatwave availed themselves well (given their horrific play during the regular season) the Norse warriors were able to secure victory by a narrow margin.

There are a few other teams that are making their way into “Rival” territory, but we won’t dignify their jealous musings yet… 

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
There have been a few changes, but trading within the FHL has become increasingly difficult as each GM has different needs, goals, and valuation of players. However, Paul Martin should add some help on D, and though the Bombers managed to scrape all the dregs off the bottom of the barrel this summer, the Heatwave have a few players showing well on PTOs that should contribute to the offensive game.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
Finishing outside the top 5 was not acceptable last year, and won’t be this year. A top 5 finish, and a strong playoffs again are goals.

Complete success would be to retake the title.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Seguin-Stamkos-VanRiemsdyk
Stafford-Stepan-Wingels
Abdelkader-Richards-Bouma

Barrie-Fowler
Suter-Phaneuf
Martin-Schenn

Talbot-Niemi

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
I expect Stamkos to have a better year, Seguin to (hopefully) be more committed, and Stepan go out and earn his big new contract.

I’d like to see Fowler return to form, but I think Barrie will continue to light it up from the blueline.

I’m curious to see if Talbot can shoulder the starting goalie role.

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
Fleischmann’s PTO seems to be going well in Montreal, and Ferland was an interesting pickup. I think either of these guys could contribute well. I’m also looking for strong seasons from my 3rd and 4th line guys.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
The emergence of Talbot as a starting goalie could make one of Howard or Niemi obsolete in the Heatwave roster. Either (or both) could be had. Of course, understanding that potential starting goalies are valuable assets in the league, there is likely a premium to be paid.

There is a glut of high-priced talent on the roster, and there’s a chance that they could be moved, but again, proven star players won’t be getting traded for magic beans.

I don’t anticipate anybody making a reasonable one-to-one offer, but I’m open to packages.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
There’s a little more balance than the last couple of years, and emergence of some of the younger players as legitimate NHLers has been a good thing. I think the biggest issue is having the team near the cap, which makes it more challenging to ice a great roster.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
Vikings, Militia, Heatwave, Chiefs, Rhinos

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
I’ll let you know after the Heatwave do…

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
The ones that finished there last season, and did the least to improve over the off-season.

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?
Let’s have a fun, smack-talking, Chucker-mocking, good time this year!

HABOILER of the LAKERS

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
Lakers finished mid pack again last year. Lack of goaltending is holding this team back.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
Lakers aren't good enough to have main rivals yet. That needs to change!

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
Tried to reduce bigger contracts and some dead weight.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
I would like to make the playoffs again and hope for the best.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.

CAM ATKINSON  - PAVEL DATSYUK  - JORDAN EBERLE
 - ERIC STAAL  - TYLER JOHNSON  - MIKE FISHER
 - CHRIS HIGGINS - ANTON LANDER  - CARL HAGELIN
 - SAM GAGNER  - BRIAN BOYLE  - DANIEL WINNIK

 - BRENT BURNS  - DANNY DEKEYSER
 - DENNIS WIDEMAN  - ERIK GUDBRANSON
 - RYAN STANTON Johnathon Diamby

 - MICHAEL HUTCHINSON
 - DUSTIN TOKARSKI

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
Eberle & Datsyuk.... oh yeah they are both on IR....

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
Anton Lander

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
Need defenceman and a goalie

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
offense is ok... D and G are weak.... much like our Oilers

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
Vikings, Heatwave, Mustangs, Bombers and Bulldogs

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
Heatwave

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Lakers

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?
Need to make some trades for D and G... Most of all have fun!

FHL Gazette: Pre-season Survey: Raiders and Megasus

Created by NorwegianOiler on 2015-10-02 00:38:10

STEVE-O of the RAIDERS

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
15th, and injuries took a toll on me, specifically as I have no flexibility with the cap.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
Better than Trogdor, Bombers got lucky though.

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
Massive changes, picked up Malkin, Krejci, and Letang, while giving up Skinner and Rask.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
I'm hoping I picked up enough offence to make a good push this year. I want finals in the playoffs, and a win in the regular season.

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Ryan - Malkin - Krejci
Stone - Spooner - Hemsky
Smith - Smith - Smith
Pominville - Vermette - Williams

Letang - Garrison
Hamhuis - Ellis
Edler - Ericsson

Allen
Lack

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
New players Malkin and Letang, as well as Ryan.

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
Allen and Lack, with trading Rask I need them to step up and steal the number 1 spots on their teams.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
My trade block is up to date, but the big ticket player I have on my block is Pominville. I need to free up some cap room, so just looking for affordable roster players. He'll be a great get for someone, but the coaches here said they can't fit him into the lineup based on the cap and as the GM I told him I'll find him a place he can play.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Top end talent is good, then big gap.

Biggest weakness is the players have played themselves to good paydays, but it's hard to keep the team together at their prices.

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
Me! and Vikings, Heatwave, Rhinos, Bulldogs

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
Raiders

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
Bombers

Do you have any messages to relay to the fellowship of the FHL?
Good season boys

CHOUDU of the MEGASUS

Where did you finish last season and what are the main reasons you ended up there?
Last year I ended up 14th, a drop from the previous year. This is partly due to me not paying as much attention as I could have during the final 2 months of the season. This year, I'll be focused on only one hockey pool.

- How did you do in relation to your biggest rivals?
I haven't built up any real individual rivalries yet, although I have been in some races the past two years with the Tigers, Bombers, and Raiders. I'd consider my biggest rivals to be the top 5 teams in the league, watch yo backs suckas.

What have you changed about your team since the end of last season?
D was a sore spot for me last year so I've looked to pick up some prospects that should get some good playing time this year.

What is your goal for the season - what would you consider a successful campaign?
Top 5

Create a "12 forward, 6 defenseman, 2 goalie lineup" from your roster.
Tavares - Saad - Staal
Sharp - Macarthur - Baily
Tanguay - Hanzal - Ennis
Lehtera - Bozak - Duclair

Sekara - Maatta
Medvedev - Reinhart
Petrovic - Stone

Elliot - Ward

Which players do you expect to carry your team?
Tavares, Saad, Sekera, Maatta

Do you have any players you expect to surprise people this season?
Duclair may surprise some folks if he plays with Domi. Sekera and Reinhart's season's depends on how well the Oil do this year and Larkin/Carr/Grandlund/Horvat could put up good numbers if they get good time in the big leagues.

Do you have any particular goals in the trade market? Which players on your roster might be available? (and for what price?)
I'm hunting for some D and a Goalie. I have a plethora of high scoring fwds available to bargain with. That said, everyone is available if the price is right.

What are your team's biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Strenths: FWDs, Depth
Weakness: GM

Which teams do you predict as top five in the FHL this season?
You may be expecting certain teams here, but i'm going for some that some may consider longshots:
Megasus, Bulldogs, Rattleheads, Rhinos, Bombers

- Do you have a favorite to win it all?
WTF kind of questions is this, Megasus of course!

Which teams do you predict to be near the bottom come season's end?
I don't wish this on anybody.
